Monk - So now you have had time to 'reflect' on the match here you are are saying exactly the same things as everyone was after the game :-)

It's not the hairstyle that bothers me with Bilic, I want to see the beard back!

"Slav needs to sort his hairstyle out though. "

I had exactly the same thought. He's not fooling anyone, the closet baldie!

With the morning after 'after-glow' of a memorable victory still fresh it is a great time to reflect on the match. Tactics were spot-on, good football played and a real team performance attacking and defending as a unit and with discipline.

The best team performance for some time. Everyone played their part but notable contributions, for me, from Adrian, Reid, Ogbonna, Kouyate, Payet and Sakho plus young Oxford.

The use of the subs was interesting but you have to accept that it is a squad game and at the moment these players will still play a part. It was an intelligent way to keep them included. Slaven talking about bring in two more players and with Obiang, Valencia and Carroll to return it could be interesting.

Slav needs to sort his hairstyle out though.

CARTERS

I don't think so. Nolan and Maiga are both good players to have coming off the bench to replace players that are tiring.

As for Jarvis, I can't see anyone reaching for their cheque book after seeing him play.
I want to see the boy do well, but he just ain't got it.

Just incredible to think our new Manager, for all the stick he got over Thursday's Europa defeat, goes out, plays a boy who should be at school, and beats Arsenal on their own Manor.
Well done everyone involved.
Reading the posts on here someone asked why Maiga,Nolan and Jarvis came on............
Could it not be SB wants them out and put them in the shop window??
As good a place as any when your 2 0 up.

Well done boys - so nice to read all of the positive comments.

Payet is different gravy, isn't he? Some lovely touches and clearly very intelligent.

The boy Oxford - wow! Very composed and 95% pass completion is something else for someone so young away at Arsenal. Also, a very brave decision by Slaven.

Everyone else, of course, was very good too and you have to enjoy days like today because they don't come around too often for us.

Wasn't it surreal that we had Nolan, Jarvis and Maiga all on at the end and none of them put a foot wrong?!

Also, it's great to have a manager who actually sets the team up to win a game rather than meekly accepting beforehand that the best we can hope for is to scrape a point.

Nobles interview summed up today compared to last time we got a result there.
Bobby z and our single effort on goal...streaky win
Today we were different class..really proud of the way we went about it today...actually gave them a game on their own patch.

With Carroll and Valencia back we'll be able to mix it up a bit too.

At least try and be happy for the fact we won, rather than worry about the formation issues we might encounter in the future, V son?

Re: Arsenal v West Ham - Official Match Thread 0-2 FT
Interesting piece on the formations imo

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/33843425

My only problem with that is that I don't think we really played a diamond in midfield. It was more of a Christmas tree with Payet and Zarate covering wide and Sakho up front on his own.

I do think the general point stands. Arsenal, because they didn't adapt to our formation at all, contributed to their own downfall. It was a key reason for the win.

The sterner test of our formations will come when teams set up to counter it.

Re: Arsenal v West Ham - Official Match Thread 0-2FT
The thing that pleased me the most today was the last 10 minutes. I wasn't on the edge of my seat, chewing my nails as with a BFS team where we conceded at the end of every bloody game.
We looked composed and kept it down our end for the majority of the added on time. (except for a great save from Adrian with his legs)

Delighted

We were due a win...historically our record against Arsenal was decent but obviously in recent years they have won quite a few

Still, we were the last team to beat them at Highbury and the first to do them at The Emirates...I've been patiently waiting ever since

Big up to Ogbonna, Payet and Sakho

As for Oxford, I've praised him on the other thread!

:-)

Bilic and Dicks were in Romania from Wednesday morning until sometime Friday so the game plan for today's performance was probably put into practice with the first team players at Chadwell Heath by Tercic in the absence of the other two. Bilic probably spent only the beginning and end of last week perfecting tactics for today's game. Now that the split duties are over, things might get even better on that front.

Stunned. By the result and performance.

Was furious about Europe, and thought Arsenal had far too much for us, especially at home. As impressed by the clean sheet as the win!

Just goes to show, fortune's always hiding, and West Ham can always surprise you.

Well played - thought we'd lose and very happy to be wrong

Re: Arsenal v West Ham - Official Match Thread 0-2FT
I'm always wary of allowing the intoxication of a result to inform my view of a team too much, even shit teams have good results afterall, so I'll try and focus on the performance minus the goals for a second, and it was superb.

We were adventurous in possession, creative with the ball and our movement. We pressed and forced them into errors and long, aimless balls. In short, it was an absolute pleasure, a breath of fresh air to watch my team play like this again.

This is the way to play football, and whilst the result won't always go our way, more of the same please.

How fucking good is this, no sign of Fordy or Vexed, and West Ham fans rejoicing and getting along.
